Meridian retained by i4Media to develop business plan and raise equity capital
(Calgary, Alberta) Meridian Merchant Capital Canada Ltd. today announced that it has been engaged to assist with the start-up of an innovative new media company established to optimize Internet opportunities for traditional and new media content providers.
The Calgary based company, i4media Corporation, has been put together by Meridian Managing Director and experienced Internet and television entrepreneur Randy Lennon and the founder of Alberta’s first Internet company Alberta Supernet and the Venture Alberta Forum, Randy Thompson.
“i4Media is a holding company for our interests in Digital Media and traditional media companies,” explained Randy Thompson. “When the sum of the parts are placed together, i4Media companies work collaboratively to drive new business opportunities in the area of social networking, content sharing, digital advertising, content purchasing and licensing, but most importantly, i4Media companies share a vision that high quality content in traditional media and digital media will always be the engine for sustainability.”
The company has retained Meridian to raise capital in three stages, the first raise to close by July 31. Early in August i4media intends to present its business plan along with letters of intent to acquire significant equity positions in two western Canadian companies it has targeted for acquisition. A further raise in the fall will facilitate subsequent acquisitions and lead to a public offering sometime in early to mid 2008.
Joining Lennon and Thompson as the initial corporate directors are interim president Cameron MacDonald, founder and president of The Macam Group of Companies, corporate secretary Wayne Tinker, Barrister & Solicitor and Vice President of Investicare Seniors Housing Corp, Michael Palmer, president of Palmco Inc., and former president of Western International Communications Alberta (now the Global television stations) and currently vice president of marketing and sponsorship for the Calgary Flames Limited Partnership, Jim Bagshaw.
